That means that when you suffer from this condition, you get to feel sad nearly every day, crying often, and felling like the world would end; and then in a sudden almost miraculous flip, you are on the other end of the same spectrum, feeling excessive enthusiasm, and lapsing into extreme physical activity.

Read carefully: there is no medical condition that begins from worse and gradually gets better without medication. There are lots of researches going on all the time into possible cures for the syndrome known as autism. The main problem though is that its cause has not been discovered. Personally, understanding how you get to cure a disease by using strains of the disease itself, I am not too optimistic about a cure being found without a cause. However, I do feel that someone will get a stroke of genius someday, and we could all kiss autism goodbye for good.

Learn what you can about autism today so that you are not taken by surprise some day when you are faced by one of those kids that don’t seem to respond to anything you have to say. They would just stand there and stare, and you could talk, yell or gesticulate all you want, and elicit no response whatsoever. That would be a rude shock on its own, but the worst part would be if it was a child of yours. Don’t wait until that happens to you.

If you ask me, I still firmly believe that there is a purpose to everything even if we cannot find or recognize that purpose. That is why no matter how difficult of painful something is for me I look ahead to a brighter day when the same experience will make me a better person. That is why I don’t often cry when I see my autistic little boy, all tied up and lost in his own world. I know there is a purpose to it, I just don’t know that purpose. But rather than cry, I will wait and do what my doctor advises, until my little boy can find his way back to me.

Hyperserotonemia, excess serotonin in the blood, is one possible cause for autism. Many of the patients who suffer from the syndrome tend to have it in their system. However, it cannot be the only cause for the condition because even the parents of the siblings of the child have it also, and they are not usually imbued with autism. As such, it is believed to be a combination of conditions and circumstances that brings it about, and not a single one, hence the current direction of researches on the subject.
